Some charges have been dropped against a man accused of hitting and killing an 85-year-old woman with his car.

Elemer Dobak appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday where prosecution withdrew two of the three charges against him.

Mr Dobak is still charged with death by dangerous driving but the two charges of driving without due care have been dropped.

Police allege Mr Dobak struck an 85-year-old Rosewater woman on Woodville Rd at Woodville South on February 27 last year.

The woman died a week later in hospital as a result of her injuries.

Mr Dobak, of Findon, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital after the accident for a routine blood test and medical assessment.

Defence counsel for Mr Dobak, who was not present in court, said his client’s mental health has deteriorated as a result of the incident.

“As a result of these charges Mr Dobak has had a significant deterioration in his mental health,” he said.

Mr Dobak will return to court in April.
