Port Adelaide is where you should be on the weekend if you want to loosen up for unlimited yoga, dance and healing.

FEEL up to a downward dog? Or maybe you feel like saluting the sun.

The first Port Adelaide Yoga Festival is a weekend of unlimited yoga, dance and healing.

Organiser Rosie Richards says instructors will be on hand allowing participants to try a variety of yoga styles from beginners to seasoned yoga.

“The festival will open a space of transformation through inner exploration, relaxation and self-reflection … it’s the perfect place to restore and find balance in your life,” she says.

“The benefits of yoga and the research of it shows it has profound outcomes and it’s great for your mental health — it’s not just about stretching.”

Jay Gardam started his studies in health and fitness six years ago and loved the challenge of yoga.

“(It) provides the ability to get that great ‘work out’ with that great ‘work in’ where you are still able to connect yourself with the mind, body and breath,” he says.

The event is on at Hart’s Mill, Port Adelaide, May 4 and 5, tickets from $20. Details: yogafestival.com.au
