Plans for a $7 million apartment complex designed to complement Mile End’s character have been lodged with the state planning authority.
DC Architecture and Interiors has submitted plans — on behalf of Adelaide Sky Corporation — for a five-storey building on the corner of Ebor Ave and Norma St, located one street back from Henley Beach Rd.
The 860sq m block is currently home to a bungalow, which is being used as an office.
According to the plans, the complex is of “a contemporary design” but includes references to the surrounding character homes — some of which were built in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
The plans include a first floor featuring shop, a one-bedroom apartment, a lobby and 33 parking spaces on the ground level.
The first, second and third floors would contain seven two-bedroom apartments with balconies.
And the fourth floor would have three apartments, either two or three-bedrooms, and a rooftop garden.

“The building is designed to provide, in the main, high quality apartments with excellent access to shopping and transport services provided on the nearby Henley Beach Rd,” the plans say.
“The building consciously references the key character attributes of the area with respect to roof form and materiality.”
The plans will be on public notification until October 28.
