A woman caught with $65,000 of fantasy at Adelaide Airport after returning from Germany said she was convinced by her dealer to do so.

Narelle Joyce Holloway, 46, foolishly decided the best way to solve her money woes was by travelling to Germany to buy cheap drugs.

A prosecutor told the District Court Holloway arrived in Adelaide Airport from Germany on February 18, last year.

She was found with 22 bottles of GHB, also known as fantasy, totalling over 9kg in her bag.

The court heard the fantasy was worth $65,000 if sold by the litre.

“The defendant left the airport and continued to travel to Hindley Street, which is a known area where drug trafficking occurs,” the prosecutor said.

Holloway was arrested and found with a further two bottles of fantasy, which the court heard were for personal use.

The prosecutor said Holloway had a lengthy criminal history in Western Australia and it appeared her offending was escalating.

Holloway, of Hilton in WA, pleaded guilty to large commercial drug trafficking.

Michael Woods, for Holloway, told the court his client had a significant drug debt of $20,000 and was encouraged by her dealer to go overseas.

Holloway sent multiple photos of the fantasy to the dealer, known as ‘Tea Bag’ in her phone, saying she was going to buy more but needed extra money for postage.

Mr Woods said fantasy costs very little overseas, approximately 30 euros per litre.

“She (Holloway) doesn’t have large amounts of money … she’s not some great, high level, organised criminal who was trying to make great profit,” Mr Woods said.

Mr Woods said Holloway was a drug addict who made poor decisions over the majority of her life.

The court heard Holloway was introduced to meth in her twenties, which escalated due to a domestic violent relationship.

Mr Woods said Holloway was remorseful for her offending and was determined not to return to drug use upon release from custody.

“There still comes a time in lots of people’s drug addicted lives where they say enough is enough … that junction in the road has been met by this lady at this time,” he said.

The court heard Holloway had previously been enrolled in the Army, as well as working in hospitality.

Judge Simon Stretton will sentence Holloway at a later date.
