Dara School for gifted students will move into the historic Cobham Hall at Morphettville, now that plans have been approved by Marion Council.
The council’s assessment panel endorsed Dara’s proposal to transform Cobham Hall, built in 1841, on Gordon Tce into a school.
The independent coeducational school for gifted children applied to fit out the building as well as install transportable toilets and construct 27 parking spaces and a “kiss and drop” zone.
It also wants to landscape the grounds and create a play area.
The school will make the move from Ascot Park Primary School, where it was established six years ago, in January
The school’s website says it “nurtures learning and personal growth in intellectually gifted students”.
“Dara School has a progressive educational philosophy and its environment is designed to optimise the specific learning characteristics of gifted and talented students,” it says.
Dara currently has 35 students enrolled from Year 1 to 7.
Over the next 10 years, it is planning to grow to a maximum enrolment of 100, and teach up
to Year 12.
