Child-sex charge dropped against ex-youth worker Shawn Mitchell Humphreys, indecent assault charges remain

Child-sex charges have been dropped against an ex-youth worker from Port Adelaide, but he is still accused of indecently assaulting a teenager.

Serious child sex offence charges have been dropped against a former youth worker who police previously alleged groomed a child.

Shawn Mitchell Humphreys, 31 of Port Adelaide, appeared at the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday where the prosecution withdrew charges of communicate to make child amenable to sexual activity, indecently assault a person, compel person to sexually manipulate offender and gross indecency.

Mr Humphreys is still charged with two counts of indecently assaulting a person.

Court documents obtained by The Advertiser indicate police will allege the two counts of indecent assault occurred between April 20 and April 21 of this year.

The documents also allege the victim was a 15-year-old child.

A Facebook page belonging to Mr Humphreys said he was a former youth worker at MacKillop Family Services from 2016 to 2019.

Mr Humphreys will next appear at the Adelaide Magistrates Court in January.
