Brighton Primary School has warned parents and students about a man seen following children on Tuesday night.

Brighton Primary School students have been warned not to travel to or from school alone after a man was reported “watching and following students”.

The warning from the school followed a complaint by one parent on Tuesday night.

“Yesterday evening a concerned parent reported that an unknown man of … complexion has been seen in the Brighton Secondary School area, allegedly watching and following students,” the warning obtained by The Advertiser states.

“Please talk to your children about ‘protective behaviours’ and ensure they do not travel to or from school alone.”

Police and local schools in the area have also been alerted, the email to parents stated.

The school’s teachers will remind students of the dangers posed by stalkers as explained in the child protection curriculum.

In response to questions by The Advertiser an Education Department spokesman said: “The school was notified a student reported concerns to the police relating to a person in the nearby vicinity.

“The school informed parents and other schools in the local area.

“This matter is now with police for further investigation.”
