Kiyomarcroos Jacob, 36, faced the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with attempted murder following a stabbing at Wingfield earlier this month.
The court heard a drunken argument over money between two best friends had resulted in attempted murder charges for Jacob.
Police and emergency services were called to Graham Street in Wingfield on Thursday, March 4 after reports of an alleged violent altercation.
The court heard Jacob and the alleged victim were best friends, work colleagues and housemates, who had lived together for the past two years.
But a fight allegedly brokeout over money, leading the alleged victim to be stabbed several times in the back and suffering a punctured lung in the incident, the court heard.
In court on Wednesday, a police prosecutor said the alleged victim had not provided a statement to police.
“There is a possibility he will not provide a statement and comply with prosecution,” she said.
The court also heard, while Jacob had prior convictions for driving while disqualified and for drink driving offences, there were no priors for violent behaviour.
Magistrate Jayanthi McGrath ordered a home detention report be undertaken.
The matter will return to court next week.
