From nonnas accidentally posting on social media to NOS canisters in the gutter, here are the good, bad and ugly sides of Adelaide according to TikTok users.

TikTok user sends us down memory lane with her list of classic aussie foods

Time and time again, Adelaide has been crowned as one of the world’s most liveable cities.

From the Adelaide Oval, to our beautiful parklands and beaches, it is hard to argue with that but the City of Churches has become a hot topic on one of the world’s most popular apps.

TikTok users are shining a light on the region, highlighting the good, the bad and the ugly of our city.

The app attracts one billion monthly users worldwide, with locals sharing in on the fun.

While the likes of Tania Pradun and Mel McGorman are finding fame with much more wholesome content, along with the ‘spin kid’ Charlie Custard, others are trying a different approach to attempt to go viral.

Here are some of the best and worst TikToks to come out of Adelaide.

THE GOOD

nonna-gina0

We have all managed an accidental post as some point in our lives. Whether we have left our screen on in our back pocket or one of our fingers have just got in the way.

For this SA grandmother, hit and misses are highlighted by her granddaughter on her TikTok account that has well over 12k followers.

Nonna Gina can be seen conversing with a man from Jacksonville, Florida after he slid into her DMs.

“You said to this man from America ‘come over and you can see me’.” the granddaughter says.

After a few too many questions, Nonna Gina hits him with a ‘goodbye’.

@nonna_gina0 Next time someone slides into your DMs hit them with a TOO MANY QUESTIONS BYE 😂 #nonna #nonnagina #funny #lol #wordswithfriends #fyp #messenger #facebook ♬ original sound - nonna_gina0

geesl0uise

In true Adelaide fashion, one of the city’s most viral TikTok moments involves a dog, a Mitsubishi Mirage and blaring music.

With 11.3m views, geesl0uise caught a true “golden hour” moment when she pulled up to the lights and saw a dachshund sitting on its owner’s lap, only to discover a second dachshund lurking in the passenger seat.

Can life get any better?

maliisabel — art

Keeping with the animal loving TikToks, South Australia has been caught in vastly different climates to start the year. From flash floods, bushfires and soaring temperature, it’s hard to pick an outfit everyday.

But for our furry friends it can be hard to find some cool relief in the summer months.

With over 1.8m views. maliisabel-art’s TikTok shows how you can give koalas some much needed relief if they are ever turn up in your backyard.

@maliisabel_art Update on the koala situation: it is 46 degrees today and they are struggling 😔 #australia #koala #koalas #fyp #foryoupage #adelaide ♬ original sound - Mali Isabel ✨

ren.energy

Looking for a roommate can be a challenge but some people have this down to a fine art.

These two roomies posted a video on TikTok advertising their three bedroom, 1.5-bathroom home in Radelaide after their former housemate told them she was moving out.

Tara and Ren can be seen highlighting why you should move in and, to be completely honest, where do we sign?

THE BAD

newgirlontheblock

Ever been apprehensive of walking home alone at night? Well this TikToker has worked out the perfect way to avoid unwanted attention on your journey.

In her video, which has reached more than 64k, she makes jarring motions with the caption: “Guys sometimes when I walk the streets at night alone, I try to impersonate a crackhead so any abductors won’t approach me.”

The viral video is also accompanied by #Adelaide and #abducted

jaxon_samwell

Boasting an impressive 198k followers, Jaxon Samwell takes to the local streets with his skateboard, showcasing the varied characters who call Adelaide home, including our beloved “eshays”.

Jaxon also started his “Coke” business, after giving a free can of Coke to a member of the public in order to “kick start things”.

But the most entertainment to come from this account is local icon, Danger. With common sightings in the CBD, Jaxon and Danger can be seen skateboarding down Rundle Mall in what Danger calls “the mad dog”, cutting people off with his scooter as they try to walk.

“You see some random stranger and you harass them, you know, get in their way,” Danger explains.

The first TikTok dedicated to Danger is nearing one million views and 155k likes.

youdontreallyknowme

Like we said, Adelaide has proved to be one of the most liveable cities in the world, time after time.

But anyone looking for an honest review of Adelaide’s most common hangout locations will find youdontreallyknowme hits the nail on the head

With more than 100k views, the video shows places such as Marion Shopping Centre, the ice skating rink and, of course, Malls Balls, accompanied with the words “get me out of here”.

yirospapi

This account has 60,000-plus followers, mostly for relatable content about that “one” person we all know.

Yirospapi gives an insight into why Bakery on O’Connell is a must see after 8pm and what Adelaide is missing.

“You look into the distance and see someone doing the Michael Jackson thriller dance – no bro it’s just a local crackhead walking past the bakery.”

He also says the No. 1 thing Adelaide is missing is high-fashion designer stores.

“How does Adelaide not have a single Gucci store? Not a single Louis store? Nothing bro. We have to go to David Jones if we want something slight designer bro.”

@yirospapi Should I run for Adelaide premier? 😂. Also what’s ur city missing in ur opinion? 🤔 #fyp #adelaide #sydney #melbourne ♬ original sound - Ayan

ameliamastrap

We’ve all thought about it but for TikTok user ameliamastrap, there’s her “POV” video about finding a man in Burnside via Tinder.

The video, which has topped 10k likes and 84k views, shows a young woman with the caption “POV: Driving to Burnside & setting your Tinder 50+’ while Lily Allen’s 2008 hit song The Fear plays in the background.

Another TikTokker – known as idontlikepooo – commented: “As a Burnside mum, my advice is to stick to old school methods. They’re all still running off with nannies & tennis coaches or picking up at the same bar.”

THE UGLY

a_samwell_time

A second account to jaxon-samwell, this is far from the fun kickflip and Danger content we are used to.

Just shy of 10m views, a group of “alternate” woman are seen barking in Rundle Mall.

It is unclear what the group is barking at, but it very well could a have been a fringe show.

itsbrookeroberts

A trend that never seems to fade is asking young people about something that their mother wouldn’t know about them.

In the exact format and in true Adelaide fashion, the recipient of the question revealed she had hooked up with her cousin.

Stay classy SA.

gillagags

Sporting 56.8k followers Jaydn Gagliardi interviews people down Rundle Mall, asks supermarket workers inappropriate questions and provides a tutorial on how to get a wife.

In one of his more famous TikToks, he can be seen moaning in a man’s ear while he tries to print pictures in Kmart.

@gillagags Moaning in peoples ears.. And how ya goin there? 😂 #prank #adelaide #foryou #fyp #kmart #moaning #moan #australia #viral ♬ original sound - Jaydn Gagliardi

maxx.a.million

If you went down Hindley Street pre-Covid-19, you’d think the only thing South Aussies loved more than a charcuterie board at the football was nangs – or NOS cannisters.

With 719k views, maxx.a.million highlights an Adelaide experience by describing what we could expect on a Sunday morning.

“A rusty nang, a broken Somersby, the beginning of a homemade molotov cocktail, Hungry Jack’s and a Kmart cardigan,” she says.

“This is the Adelaide experience.”
