Beautician Alisha Pertini only started her business less than a year ago but her skills have seen her take out the win for the best therapist to visit for a facial.
After close to 1000 reader nominations and hundreds of votes Ms Pertini, 22, was voted SA’s best beauty therapist in our latest “Best Of” poll.
The poll came down to the wire, but Ms Pertini and her home-based business That Beauty Lounge got over the line with 15 per cent of the vote.
“That Beauty Lounge opened in June last year – in the middle of coronavirus,” Ms Pertini said.
“I started off just doing brows and lashes, before venturing into facials.
“I do a lot of facials and they’re my focus and passion.”
Ms Pertini has been able to achieve amazing results for her clients – transforming everything from ageing to acne-ridden skin.
While the business started less than a year ago, it is booming, with sessions booked out weeks in advance.
“Honestly, I thought it would be tough starting out during COVID but I think it’s actually been a blessing in disguise,” she said.
“I think with everyone being forced to stay home, they realised how much they missed going to the salon.”
Ms Pertini was thrilled with her win in the competition and attributed her success to attention to detail.
“I’m definitely a perfectionist. I think any of my clients you speak to would say I take my time and am very precise,” she said.
The salon has been operating from Dernancourt, but it is now being moved to Gulfview Heights.
While That Beauty Lounge is a home-based business at the moment, Ms Pertini is looking to open her own shop in the near future.
“I’m looking at a few shops at the moment,” she said.
Brighton beautician Nicole Grantham from Bespoke Facial and Body Clinic was voted second-best in the state with Underdale’s Athina-Marie Tsekinis from House of Charis rounding out the top three.
