The Far North Football League’s top 25 players of 2025 ranked

SA’s smallest local competition, the Far North Football League, still boasts plenty of footy talent, so we’ve ranked the competition’s top 25 players of 2025. See who made the cut.

The Far North Football League is one of SA’s smallest local footy competitions, with just four clubs and 15 rounds a year, but still boasts promising country talent.

Based on this season’s form, we’ve ranked the top 25 players the competition has to offer.

Here are our rankings from no. 25 to 1.

25. REUBEN STEPHEN PATTIE

(Olympic Dam)

An emerging young gun for the Devils this season.

Wins plenty of the footy in the contest and provides damaging run and carry and ball-use.

24. TY MONTGOMERIE

Montgomerie has only played two games this season but has emerged as one of the most promising young players in the competition.

An exciting teenage prospect who attacks the footy well and is one of his side’s most skilled players.

Has two best on ground performances including an Anzac Medal.

23. LACHLAN FORWARD

(Hornridge)

Has been among the Magpies’ best when available.

Forward’s ability to impact the game in the contest with his clean skills and create for others makes him a constant threat.

Three best player nods in three games.

22. DARNELL RYNNE

(East Roxby)

One of East Roxby’s standouts during a tough season for the club.

Rynne is a gritty player in the contest who covers ground well and always makes good decisions when in possession.

Has four best player nods in six games.

21. ZACH NOLL

(Hornridge)

Noll has been solid again for Hornridge after a strong 2024.

A valuable asset around the ground with his ability to win aerial and ground level contests and create for teammates ahead of the footy.

Can also dominate in the ruck.

20. JOSH CALYUN

(Hornridge)

A versatile threat up front for the Magpies.

Calyun can win games off of his own boot with his ability to slot home tough goals and set up others.

Has 11 majors and two best player nods in four games.

19. RYAN NORTON

(Roxby Districts)

A consistent threat in front of goal for Miners.

Norton is an athletic and skilled player with the ability to boot important goals and create for his teammates.

Has 13 majors and three best player nods in seven games.

18. ZAC DAHMS

(Olympic Dam)

Dahms has been a consistent weapon for Olympic Dam this year.

Wins multiple key possessions for the Devils each week and is a reliable distributor.

Has three best player mentions in six games.

17. JACKSON NANCE

(Roxby Districts)

Also a solid name for Crystal Brook, Nance has been a standout for Miners this season.

Covers ground as well as anyone, wins plenty of the footy and also hits the scoreboard.

Has seven goals and three best player nods in three games.

16. JOSH MEWBURN

One of Hornridge’s most reliable players so far this season.

An occasional threat in front of goal who wins plenty of the footy around the ground and is accurate by hand and foot.

Has four best player nods and five goals in eight games.

15. TYLER CARROLL

(East Roxby)

One of the Roos’ most consistent players when available.

Carroll can have a major impact in the contest with his ability to win the footy and distribute accurately under pressure.

Has three goals and four best player mentions in four games.

14. DYLAN MOSTYN

(Roxby Districts)

An emerging star for Miners, Mostyn has had a strong year so far.

A big presence around the ground who can dominate in the air and unlock his side with reliable disposal.

Five best player nods in eight games.

13. THOMAS CASTLE

(Olympic Dam)

A star ruck for Olympic Dam, Castle remains one of his side’s best.

Opens the game up for his midfielders with great tap work and is a constant aerial threat.

Has two best player nods and three goals in four games.

12. BRETT COOPER

(Hornridge)

Cooper has built on a solid 2024 season to become a major standout for the Magpies this year.

A versatile player who can dominate with his ability to read the play and cut up opposition with his distribution.

Four best player mentions in seven games.

11. LACHLAN MCGREGOR

(Roxby Districts)

McGregor has only played three games for Roxby Districts but has undoubtedly been one of his side’s best players during his appearances.

A constant threat in front of goal who also does damage around the ground with his contested ball work and disposal.

Has 10 majors and three best player nods.

10. MAXWELL HANSON

(Hornridge)

A strong midfielder who attacks the footy hard to win possession for his side and deliver efficiently around the ground, Hanson can also hit the scoreboard through his hard running.

Has two best player mentions through five games so far.

9. TERRY CLANCY

(Roxby Districts)

Clancy has made four appearances for Miners so far this year but is still among the top goalkickers in the competition.

A skilled and athletic player who is adept in the air and at ground level, Clancy boots goals and sets his teammates up.

Has 15 majors and two best player mentions.

8. BILLY HODGES

(Hornridge)

A versatile and highly skilled player for the Magpies.

Hodges finds plenty of the footy each week and always makes good decisions with his distribution.

Has three best player nods in his four games.

7. CURTLEY DADLEH

A consistent gun for Miners, Dadleh is putting together a standout 2025.

Works tirelessly through four quarters to provide security on and behind the ball and can also have an impact inside 50 with his creative disposal and finishing ability.

Has four best player mentions in seven games.

6. JOSH TURNER

(Olympic Dam)

Also a Kilburn player in D3 of the Adelaide Footy League, Turner has been a standout for the Devils.

Hard at the contest and composed under pressure, Turner is a reliable distributor and does plenty of the dirty work.

Has two best player nods and four goals in four games.

5. NATHAN NUNAN

(Olympic Dam)

A long time standout for the Devils, Nunan has been a force this season.

A star leader for his side, Nunan covers ground as well as anyone in the competition, finds plenty of the footy in the contest and is a reliable distributor.

Has six best player nods in eight games.

4. JACK SIRES

Playing-coach of the reigning premier, 2023 Mail Medallist Jack Sires has been a standout in 2025.

A tireless and athletic player who covers ground as well as anyone in the competition, is skilled overhead and off of the deck and disposes efficiently to teammates while under pressure.

3. LIAM MURPHY

(Roxby Districts)

Joint Mail Medallist last year, Murphy has had another strong season so far.

ability to win the footy, provide run and carry through the midfield and also kick goals makes him one of his side’s most impactful players.

Has five goals and four best player nods in nine games.

2. JACK RIGDEN

Rigden has produced a strong 2025 campaign after his starring 2024 season.

A star through the middle who has the ability to win a number of contests and set-up his teammates ahead of the play with accurate disposal.

Has three best player nods and six goals in four games.

1. HAKEEM JOHNSON

(Hornridge)

The top player in the Far North so far this season, Johnson has been unstoppable up front and around the ground.

A highly skilled player who leads well, takes big marks, kicks goals from anywhere and can set up others.

Has 39 majors and seven best player nods in nine games.
