ADELAIDE FOOTY LEAGUE
DIVISION FOUR
Edwardstown v Mitcham
Edwardstown Soldiers Memorial Oval @ 7pm
It will be a special evening at Edwardstown Soldiers Memorial Oval as the Towns take on Mitcham under lights in division four.
Edwardstown is celebrating its 100th year after being formed in 1919 – one year after World War I ended – with the help of returned servicemen.
The Towns will host the Hawks at their recently opened $8.8 million clubrooms.
The club will honour its intrinsic links to those who have served with a special Anzac guernsey adorned with the names of more than 200 men from the Edwardstown area who served in World War I.
Club president Eddie Dessman said it was great to play the fixture against a local club.
“It’s probably the most important day on our calendar I think, especially for a suburb like Edwardstown, where a lot of returned servicemen came to live after the wars,” Dessman said.
The Hawks enter the clash in form after an 85-point defeat of Colonel Light Gardens in round two and a 20-point win over Pembroke Old Scholars in their opening match.
Edwardstown lost its round one fixture to SMOSH West Lakes by two points but bounced back to defeat Pooraka by 22 points the next week.
DIVISION ONE
Adelaide University v Goodwood Saints
University Oval @ 2.30pm
Picturesque University Oval will play host to a battle between two of the Adelaide Footy League’s biggest clubs, the Blacks and Goodwood Saints.
A traditional Anzac Day ceremony will be held prior to the division one clash with the reserves in the early match and a twilight C1 fixture to finish a triple-header day.
The last game between the Blacks and Saints in round 18 last year was a big one, as Uni broke a 4389-day drought between wins against Goodwood.
Both sides are 1-1 to begin 2019, setting the stage for a tight clash.
DIVISION TWO
Salisbury North v Scotch OC
Salisbury North Oval @ 2.30pm
Salisbury North will raise money for its local RSL when it welcomes Scotch Old Collegians to Salisbury North Oval on Thursday.
The Hawks’ traditional green and gold colours have been transformed into an Anzac Day guernsey with much-needed donations to the RSL taken at the ground.
On the field, Salisbury North is flying with two straight wins to begin the season and will be tough to conquer for the 1-1 Scotch.
Further north, Elizabeth will also wear a one-off Anzac Day guernsey when it hosts Fitzroy at Argana Park.
Money will also be raised for the local RSL.

GREAT SOUTHERN
Langhorne Creek v Strathalbyn
Langhorne Creek @ 6.15pm
It will be a big day of milestones for reigning premier Langhorne Creek when it takes on old foe Strathalbyn in their annual Anzac Day fixture.
League legend Damien “Roudy” James will notch up his 350th senior game in the A Grade after loyal club servant Joe Hill plays his 300th in the reserves.
Both teams go into the encounter with a win and a loss as they battle for the Daish Cup. Willunga will host McLaren in the league’s other Thursday fixture from 2.30pm.
EASTERN EYRE
Cowell v Eastern Ranges
Cowell @ 2.30pm
The Eastern Eyre season will kick off at Cowell Oval on Thursday, with the home side celebrating its 1969, 1999 and 2009 premierships along with the centenary of the Cowell RSL which has organised a RAAF flyover.
The Cats have reportedly been battling low numbers on the training track and will be up against a strong Ranges side featuring last year’s Mail Medallist Jack Kenny and keen to make amends for a grand final defeat.
SPENCER GULF
South Augusta v West Augusta
Central Oval @ 2.25pm
South Augusta will start its campaign for a fourth flag on the trot against last-year’s cellar dweller West Augusta.
But while the Bulldogs went through last year unbeaten they will be without 2018 Madigan Medallist Aziel Stuart (Sturt) and star on-baller Billy-Joe Russell (West Whyalla).
The young Hawks have been busy on the recruiting front and will be keen to significantly improve on their one-win season.
Anzac Day commemorations will also double as ladies day for the Bulldogs.
