Four years on, the 10-year-old Tea Tree Gully BMX club star continues to turn heads with her speed and skill at races across the country.
“It isn’t scary at all – it’s just good fun,” Imogen, of Mawson Lakes, says.
In April, she took out the national BMX title in the under-10s division in Brisbane.
During the week-long event, she completed a clean sweep – finishing first in all seven of her races.
The result came after Imogen won back-to-back state titles for her age group in 2015 and 2016.
“It was pretty good as it was my first time doing nationals,” she says.
I want to be in the Olympics.
Sean Healy, Imogen’s father, was not surprised how quickly she took up the sport.
“She’s has always been a thrillseeker,” he says.
Imogen has been nominated for the Messenger School Sports Award.
The awards, supported by Messenger Community News, recognise achievements of SA sportspeople aged 10-18 during the past year.
Nominations are open until October and any student enrolled at an SA school is eligible to enter.
Finalists for award categories will be announced later in the year.
