REPLAY: MEN’S GRAND FINAL – MT LOFTY V USC LION
REPLAY: WOMEN’S GRAND FINAL - SOUTH ADELAIDE V MT LOFTY
The South Adelaide women have only lost four games throughout the season, three of which have come against Mt Lofty.
“Mt Lofty has always been a strong team and we’re going into this game having won against them once out of four times, including the first round of the finals,” Gould said.
“They’ve got some great strong players, but we’ve also got great players. It’s going to be a tough game and we’re looking forward to it.”
Gould said the close relationship the South players had would be of benefit in the title decider.
“I think there’s definitely a benefit in playing with the same bunch of girls for a number of years,” she said.
“Our team has become more like a family and we trust each other to always play our role to the best of our ability.
“It feels pretty amazing to be in the grand final – it’s our fourth attempt in the last five years, so we’re all really determined to get the win.”
USC Lion will be aiming for the perfect finish to an extraordinary finals run in its grand final against Mt Lofty, having made the big dance from fourth spot.
Key player Brendan Clewes believes being the underdog will favour his team.
“Mt Lofty as an opponent is very daunting,” Clewes said.
“They play at a level that is high but also consistent and have been the team to beat for several seasons.
“I am confident though, that if we play well and execute the results will come.
“We have shown in this finals series that we’ve been underestimated and we have the skill to win.
“Coming in as the underdog, I feel more confident.”
Clewes said winning the premiership would be a well-deserved reward for the hardworking USC side.
“For the team, it would be amazing,” he said.
“Our group has been together for a while and it would be really nice to have a premiership under our belt again as reward for the hard work and dedication, not only for this season but for the last few as well.”
Both grand finals will be live streamed right here.
The Mt Lofty vs South Adelaide women’s game starts at 1.50pm and the Mt Lofty vs USC Lion men’s game follows from 3.50pm.
