SA Premier Cricket players of the week including Cranmer, Valente and Saville

Local SA cricket’s best produced more starring performances over the weekend in week two of the Premier Cricket season and we’ve picked the best of the bunch. See who made the cut.

Another weekend of SA Premier Cricket has passed, with round one of the men’s first grade completed and the women playing out round two of their T20 competition.

More star players and up and coming guns have produced impressive displays and we’ve listed the top eight of the weekend in no particular order.

MICHAEL CRANMER

(East Torrens)

Cranmer was one of the main positives for East Torrens in its big loss to Glenelg in round one, heading to the crease at number four in the batting order to make 61 not out off of 142 deliveries.

The Reds star stood up as his side was forced to follow on with the bat and produced a standout innings.

CAM VALENTE

Valente makes it for a second straight week, following up his spectacular Port Adelaide debut century with three wickets in a strong win over Kensington.

The Magpies might just be emerging as a major power this year and Valente is leading the charge.

SHAUN TANNER

(Southern District)

After skipper Josh Barrett scored 93 with the bat for the Stingrays in their narrow win over Adelaide, Shaun Tanner stepped up with the ball.

The skilled bowler and former captain did the winning damage with a number of variations in his delivery, taking four wickets for 62 runs.

LUCAS GAMMON

(West Torrens)

While Daniel Fallins and Spencer Johnson did their usual damage with the ball, Lucas Gammon was the standout for West Torrens during Prospect’s second innings.

Gammon took three wickets for just 22 runs.

Wickets included Pirates captain Kyle Scrimegour and top order batter Connor Prior, who Gammon clean bowled.

LUCY BOWERING

(Glenelg)

Glenelg’s Bowering was masterful with the ball in round two of the women’s T20 as the Seahorses charged to a straightforward win.

She took three wickets at the expense of just 17 runs against West Torrens as the Eagles were held to just 81 runs.

TABITHA SAVILLE

(Glenelg)

Saville backed up Bowering’s efforts with the bat, smashing her way to an impressive 53 not out off of 30 deliveries.

She partnered fellow opener Kayla McGrath well and hit nine fours and a six as Glenelg the required runs in only 59 balls.

EMMA DE BROUGHE

(Sturt)

Sturt won an entertaining game against Northern District, with opener Emma De Broughe’s impressive innings setting the tone for the Blues.

The star batter made 62 runs from 49 deliveries, slashing eight fours in the process.

Combining with captain Alex Price who made 51 runs, the two propelled the Blues to a solid total of 4/157.

BHAVISHA DEVCHAND

(Northern District)

The Jets did not go down without a fight as opener Devchand put together one of the most exciting batting innings of the weekend.

The talented all rounder played a series of strong and assured shots as she tallied 10 fours and made her way to 52 runs off of 29 balls for her side.

It was not enough however, as Northern District was bowled out for 123.
