Premier Cricket season got off to a scintillating start over the weekend with star players showing their talent across Adelaide. Here are the top 10 players of the week.

SACA Premier Cricket is in full swing as men’s and women’s first grade matches got underway last weekend.

After an exciting opening day we’ve listed the standout performers.

CAM VALENTE

(Port Adelaide)

One of the major recruits in the offseason, Cam Valente started his Port Adelaide career with a bang.

Starting number four in the batting order in his first innings for the club, Valente tallied an impressive 131 runs against Kensington, forming a strong partnership with Isaac Conway (128 runs).

ISAAC CONWAY

(Port Adelaide)

Conway was just as important at the crease as Valente over the weekend, his innings of 128 off of 266 balls provided the stability Port Adelaide needed after the early dismissals of openers Calder and Hoffman.

He and Valente could prove to be a formidable duo this season.

JOSH CROOM

(Glenelg)

Croom is on track for outstanding numbers through the first round of two-day play, taking three wickets for just 15 runs against East Torrens before stumps on Saturday.

The quick bowler looks to be in fine form to begin the year and adds to a potent Seahorses attack.

MICHAEL CORMACK

(East Torrens) 

Cormack has been equally as impressive during the matchup with Glenelg.

The talented Reds bowler was the standout through the Seahorses’ innings, taking four wickets at the reasonable expense of 78 runs.

CAM EDWARDS

(Adelaide Uni)

Edwards was key for Uni, combining as an opener with Elder to lead the Blacks to an impressive start with the bat.

His 128 off of 252 deliveries against Tea Tree Gully made for one of the standout innings of the weekend.

BEN COOPER

(Adelaide Uni)

Cooper produced a remarkable effort for Uni against the Bulls, scoring 104 off of just 100 deliveries batting in the middle order.

His heroics have ensured a strong total for his side as they prepare to face a talented TTG lineup.

DANIEL FALLINS

(West Torrens)

Fallins re-established himself as the best spin bowler in SA Premier Cricket on Saturday, taking six wickets for 32 runs as Prospect was bowled all out for 97 in its first innings and held to 2-10 at the start of its second innings.

Fallins produced a range of change-ups and dangerous leg-spin deliveries as the Pirates remained unable to respond with the bat.

SPENCER JOHNSON

(West Torrens)

Left-arm fast/medium pacer Spencer Johnson was also at his best on Saturday, adding to Prospect’s worries.

Johnson took a five wickets for 35 runs for the Eagles as he and Fallins completely dismantled the opposing batting order.

MADDIE PENNA

(West Torrens)

The standout performer with the bat in as Women’s T20 cricket began over the weekend, Penna led the Eagles to a comfortable win over Kensington.

The 2022-23 SA Scorpions member impressed as she slashed her way t0 58 runs off 50 deliveries.

JEMMA BARSBY

(Northern Districts)

Barsby’s performance with the ball for Northern Districts was a significant one as she helped lead the Jets to a solid T20 win over Glenelg.

The talented all-rounder rebounded from a duck with the bat to take three wickets for 11 runs in the Seahorses’ innings and help her team to victory.
