Crows star Ebony Marinoff will play for Glenelg in the SANFLW this weekend.
The midfielder, who featured in Adelaide’s AFLW premiership last month and 2017 flag, will line up with the Tigers when they take on Sturt at Glenelg Oval on Good Friday.
Adelaide players were each assigned to SANFLW clubs at the beginning of the season and Glenelg coach Jason Fairall said Marinoff’s inclusion was huge.
“We are excited to have her,” Fairall said of Marinoff, who also played in the Crows’ 2017 AFLW grand final win.
“She was super keen to play.
“She trained this week and instantly brought in to what we are trying to do.
“She’s an amazing person and has brought a lot of buzz around the group.
“We obviously drafted her and there were whispers that after the AFLW season finished she would come back and play for us.
“Lo and behold after her end of season trip, she got in touch with one of our assistant coaches and said she wanted to play, which was great.”
Marinoff, who was drafted to the Crows ahead of the inaugural AFLW season in 2017, set a new AFLW record for most disposals in a match this season with 33 against Geelong.
She gathered 19 touches in Adelaide’s 45-point grand final triumph over Carlton.
Glenelg is fifth on the ladder with a 4-4 record, one win behind fourth-placed West Adelaide.
The Tigers must win their remaining two games against Sturt and Woodville-West Torrens to snatch a finals berth.
“Ebony is an amazing player and will certainly make her teammates lift, that’s for sure,” Fairall said.
Glenelg takes on Sturt at Glenelg Oval on Friday at 6.45pm.
