Crows AFLW star Ebony Marinoff grew up supporting Glenelg.
Now she is preparing to line-up with the Tigers’ SANFLW team in their elimination final against North Adelaide on Friday.
The midfielder, who featured in Adelaide’s AFLW premierships in March this year and in 2017, made her state league debut in the Tigers’ clash with Sturt at Glenelg Oval on Good Friday.
She then went on to feature in the side’s final minor round game – against Woodville-West Torrens at home last Saturday – amassing 36 disposals, nine clearances and a goal.
The 21-year-old is the SANFLW Player of the Week for round 10.
Marinoff, of West Lakes, rates playing in the SANFLW as “awesome”.
“To be at the Bays, the club that I’ve supported for a very long time, has been everything that I could’ve asked for – and more,” she says.
“I just want to be successful and win premierships, that’s why we play footy.
“So to be able to come back and have an impact with the Bays and to slip into the finals is great.”
Glenelg jumped ahead of West Adelaide and into the finals after the Tigers beat the Eagles and the Bloods lost to South Adelaide in the state league’s last minor round.
Marinoff was drafted to the Crows ahead of the inaugural AFLW season in 2017 and has brought plenty of finals experience to the Tigers.
She has featured in six premierships – two in the AFLW, three division one amateur league flags with Morphettville Park and one with VFLW side Darebin.
Marinoff hopes to add a SANFLW grand final win to that list but knows the Tigers must first concentrate on beating North Adelaide in the knock-out semi-final tomorrow night.
“I’m lucky my mum gets my premiership medal and my grand final day jumper framed, so my AFLW ones are both up in my room on the wall.
“My other medals are hanging in our lounge room, so if I get one with the Bays, that would probably go up there.
“At the Crows this year, we just focused on taking each week as it comes, win the contested footy and ensured we didn’t over-complicate things.
“So I’ve sort of tried to take that to Glenelg.
“I’ve obviously recently just played in a finals campaign and they are very pressure-filled games, so I’m looking forward to it.”
Glenelg plays North Adelaide at Norwood Oval this Friday (May 10) at 6pm.
