A Premier League netball club has locked in two stars as it looks to build from a successful 2022 season.

Tango has re-signed young midcourter Brianna Gibbs – the club’s reserves captain last season – and recruited former East Gambier and McLaren Vale attacker Tenille Gray ahead of 2023.

Gray has been one of the most reliable goal attacks and goal shooters in country netball in recent years, winning Western Border Netball Association best and fairest in all grades for East Gambier and also dominating in the Great Southern Netball Association last season.

22-year-old Gibbs – who has been one of Tango’s most consistent Premier League players – will continue at the club she has called home for 11 seasons and counting.

“Growing up at Tango has allowed me to create lifelong friendships and relationships with teammates, coaches and additional members of the club. It’s also allowed me to grow as a player with lots of support so I’m happy to be back,” Gibbs said.

“It’s always exciting to have a variety of girls like Tenille from country teams join the group as well – she brings a unique playing style which will definitely be exciting to watch next year.

“She’s a great asset to the team.”

The club produced a strong season through 2022, finishing below Matrics and Contax in third position and just losing out to South Adelaide in the first round of the finals.

While the side has seen some players leave throughout the pre-season as clubs across the competition strengthen, Gibbs believed it had enough talent to be competitive again.

“It’s been hard to watch a solid team with great friendships disperse among different clubs,” she said.

“It’s hard to predict the next season with every clubhaving new, exciting signings and I believe the competition will look quite different to last year but I’m confident we will have a playing style to challenge other teams.

“Having a range of new girls is both exciting and challenging but with the people we’ve got and have brought in we have the potential to be a strong team with a variety of experiences all over the court.”

The pick-ups add to a variety of list changes across the Premier League, with more set to come in the near future.
