She’s had a crack at singing out a Whitney Houston tune while playing in the WBBL, now this Adelaide Striker has just belted out a massive score in local cricket.

Star cricketer Alex Price says she will do many things to lighten a possibly tense situation on the ground – and if that means singing Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You while mic’d up during a WBBL match for the Adelaide Strikers recently, then so be it.
But Price, 25, says she is happy to focus on her latest cricketing deeds – a career-high 146 for Sturt against Southern District in the women’s grade match at Price Memorial Oval last Sunday.
“It is amazing what you do when you are mic’d up – it’s harder than it looks,” Price said.
“It went viral and hopefully people saw it as a bit of fun.’’
Price doesn’t think her singing career will take off but is hoping for a truck full of runs in the latter part of the season with the Scorpions and Sturt.
Ironically Price’s two centuries were made eight years apart, both against Southern District.
She made her maiden ton (117 not out) on November 5, 2011, on her 17th birthday.
But Price said she was glad to finally bring up her second century.
“I took a while to settle but once I got going I was happy with how I hit them,” Price said.
“It had been a long time since my previous century and it was starting to get a bit of an issue for me but it all came together. Hopefully there might be a few more in store.
“Season wise it has been a bit and up and down with Sturt and the Scorpions not winning too many games and the Strikers losing the grand final but there are more games to go.’’

Sturt also appears to love playing against Southern.
Annie O’Neil smashed an unbeaten 242 as an opener for the Blues against the Stingrays in 2017/18 with the team piling on 6/422dec from 50 overs.
Before that opener Shelly Nitschke carved up 198 for Sturt against Southern in 2010/11.
Price, of Glenelg, also loves her work away from cricket – as a teacher working with special needs Aboriginal student at a school in Marleston.
“The kids are great and we have a lot of fun together,’’ Price said.
“They don’t seem to care too much about what I am doing with my cricket – they are just worried about what sport they will be playing.’’
