Adelaide Footy League division one team of the year for season 2021 revealed

Gun players from the Adelaide Footy League’s top flight have been unveiled in the 2021 division one team of the year. See who made the cut.

A powerful premiership campaign by Prince Alfred Old Collegians has been recognised with a strong showing in the Adelaide Footy League 2021 division one team of the year.

The Old Reds were rewarded with six selections – including playing coach Craig Pitt – for their stellar 15-win home and away season and grand final triumph over Payneham Norwood Union.

Keith Sims OAM Medallist Jack Trengove was named captain of the side and was joined by teammates Thomas Bartlett, Will Dalwood, Adam Perryman, Cameron Giles and Pitt as coach.

For Dalwood, it was his fourth consecutive team of the year selection while Perryman recorded his fifth in total after earning honours from 2016-2019.

PNU was not far behind and had four players picked by the selection panel assembled by the league, which included input from division one coaches, among others.

Powerful forwards Liam Davis and Nick Jolly were named in attack while the high-flying Dylan Auciello and emerging Max Hodges found spots in defence.

Preliminary finalist Goodwood Saints had star duo Tom Carter and Nick Favretto selected to start at the centre bounce with Reece Slape earning a position in the back pocket.

Carter and Favretto were among four players from the 2020 team of the year to retain their spots alongside PAOC’s Dalwood and St Peter’s Old Collegians forward Jock McLeay.

Tea Tree Gully brothers Chad and Dylan Schoenmakers both gained selection – picked on the wing and bench respectively.

SPOC (McLeay and Nick McGill), Rostrevor Old Collegians (Luke Manuel and Stefan Lanzoni) and Port District (Louis Sharrad and Gavin Shepherd) also had two players picked each.

Brighton defender Otis Carthy and Adelaide University midfielder Ryan Marini were their side’s sole selections on the bench.

Wooden spooner Unley Mercedes was the only side not to have a player make the team.
