Adelaide Footy League division one team of the year for 2022 revealed

Star players from the Adelaide Footy League’s top flight have been unveiled in the 2022 division one team of the year. See who made the cut.

A standout minor premiership and grand final campaign by Port District has been recognised with a strong showing in the 2022 Adelaide Footy League division one team of the year.

The Magpies make up four of the 22 players selected, while coach Josh Ramsey also gets a nod for a total of five representatives.

Gavin Shepherd and Jason Nyskohus were named across half-forward, while star Sam Gray made the team as a follower and gun defender Cooper Gaffney slotted in across the full backline.

Fellow grand finalist Prince Alfred Old Collegians had three representatives, with Hayden Jolly and former Glenelg captain Chris Curran slotting in at half-back and former league best and fairest Jack Trengove coming off the interchange.

Goodwood Saints – who just fell short of making the grand final this year – also had three players named, with Keith Sims OAM Medalist Nick Favretto being named vice captain in the centre and forward Nick Burgess and ruckman Tom Carter also making it after dominant seasons.

Leading goalkicker Jock McLeay made the cut for St Peter’s Old Collegians along with teammates James Hargreaves and Jesse O’Brien (interchange).

Glenunga’s successful maiden division one campaign was rewarded with coach Nathan Grima being named assistant of the team, versatile forward Michael McMahon making the cut at centre and captain Alex Haren placed on the interchange.

Talented Brighton back Jarman Sigal made the starting 18 along with Bombers mid Nigel Osborne, while Tea Tree Gully’s Tyler Martin (full back) and Ryan Spittle (half forward) were also named.

Old Ignatians’ Will Abbott was named captain up front while Payneham Norwood Union’s Brad McKenzie (full back) and Rostrevor Old Collegians’ Tim Baccanello (centre) rounded out the team.

Premier SMOSH West Lakes and runner-up Morphettville Park were rewarded for strong seasons in the women’s division one team of the year.

The clubs’ selections are headlined by both head coaches as well as dual league best and fairest Celestina Dona and SMOSH West Lakes stars Kiana Lee, Teagan Usher and Charlotte Dolan.
