Division five of the Adelaide Footy League has its fair share of local SA talent and it has been on show yet again in season 2024.
Based on this season’s form, we’ve picked the division’s top 30 players of the year.
Here are our rankings from 30 to 1.
30. NATHAN RAYNER
(Woodville South)
A talented forward for the Cats, Rayner has been a standout in 2024.
Rayner is a skilled player with great skills and a nose for goal who can also contribute at the contest.
Has 35 goals and nine best player nods in 15 games.
29. BAILEY STANBOROUGH
(Marion)
A consistent contributor in the contest and across the forwardline.
Stanborough is a strong and skilled player who specialises with distribution in close and can also create or hit the scoreboard up front.
Has 15 goals and 10 best player nods in 17 games.
28. MITCH OBST
(Colonel Light Gardens)
One of the many young stars who have emerged this year at the Lions.
Obst provides an important presence for the Lions and always makes great decisions in possession, finding teammates or booting goals himself.
Has 13 goals and seven best player nods in 13 games.
27. HARRISON PRIDE
(Mitcham)
One of Mitcham’s standouts again this year, Pride has been important for the Hawks.
A tireless worker and reliable distributor, Pride is always providing an option for his teammates and can unlock defences with his delivery.
Has seven best player nods and eight goals in 14 games.
26. ADAM BEAUMONT
(Marion)
Beaumont has been an exceptional player for Marion up front and through the middle this season.
The former Brighton Bombers player is a hard runner who disposes of the ball accurately under pressure by hand or foot and can also finish with composure in front of goal.
Has seven majors and 11 best player nods in 17 games.
25. PATRICK NEWMAN
(Mitcham)
One of Mitcham’s most skilled players on the ball.
Newman has been a standout in 2024 through his hard work around the ground and ability to find the ball and and escape opposition pressure before dealing to teammates efficiently.
Has five best player performances and two goals in 16 games.
24. JOEL AISH
(Pulteney)
One of the top forwards in the division, Aish is having a big year for Pulteney.
The former captain and club best and fairest can dominate a game up front with his ability to take strong marks, create for others and kick important goals.
Has 62 goals and four best player nods in 15 games.
23. NOAH HYDE
(Colonel Light Gardens)
Lions young gun Hyde has emerged as one of his club’s future stars in 2024.
Provides a strong presence on the footy and around the ground with his ability to take strong marks, win contested possessions and find teammates with efficiency.
Has nine goals and 10 best player nods in 15 games.
22. NATHAN LORNIE
(Woodville South)
Lornie has had another big year for the Cats and has been important in his side’s finals charge.
A no fuss in and under midfielder who wins contested footy for his side and feeds his teammates efficiently.
Has 10 best player nods and 11 goals in 17 games.
21. MATT GIBSON
(Greenacres)
A star up front for Greenacres through a number of seasons, Gibson has been dominant again this year.
Is a clever forward who makes good leads, takes strong marks and finishes well off of either side.
Has 55 goals and six best player nods in 17 games.
20. NICK PATTERSON
(Colonel Light Gardens)
Colonel Light Gardens’ star captain has had another standout year.
A dominant forward who boasts clean skills by hand and foot, Patterson can take big grabs, set his teammates up or boot bags for himself.
Has 46 goals in 15 games.
19. KONSTANDINOS GEORGIADIS
(Greenacres)
A consistent star for Greenacres, Georgiadis has been strong yet again in 2024.
Georgiadis is a hard-running midfielder who can find teammates as well as anyone under pressure and create chances for his side up front.
Has 11 best player nods and six goals in 17 games.
18. JACK TAPE
(Colonel Light Gardens)
A former Yorke Peninsula gun who can dominate at the back or on the ball.
Tape’s ability to read the play puts him among his side’s top players and his distribution can damage any side in the competition.
Has 10 best player nods in 17 games.
17. LUCAS SPINIELLO
(Mitcham)
A star forward for the Hawks, Spiniello has been key to his side’s success this year.
Is an athletic player with impressive smarts up front who can create for teammates or finish for himself.
Has five best player nods and 51 goals in 15 games.
16. DARCY BOYANTON
(Pulteney)
Joining from Padthaway this season, Boyanton has been important for Pulteney.
A strong player who can fill a number of roles for his side, Boyanton is a skilled distributor and has a high footy IQ.
Has two best player performances and 11 goals in 14 games.
15. BRODIE MCHUGH
(Marion)
Marion captain McHugh has been a standout for the Rams after a strong 2023.
A brilliant user of the ball through the contest, McHugh always makes the right decisions under duress and delivers with efficiency.
Has five best player nods and three goals in 13 games.
14. TOBY CASE
(Pulteney)
Joined Pulteney from Edwardstown and has been a standout so far.
Taylor is a standout around the contest, always makes great decisions when in possession and often sets teammates up with chances in front of goal.
Nine best player mentions and seven goals in 16 games.
13. SAM TAYLOR
(Mitcham)
The former Modbury player has been dominant this season since joining the Hawks.
A smooth mover who finds plenty of the footy and distributes efficiently by hand and foot, Taylor can often take over a game for his side.
Has five best player performances and eight goals in 13 games.
12. CAMERON MATTERS
(Trinity OS)
Trinity’s best player this season, Matters has been dominant in division five yet again.
A ball magnet who also produces strong footy up front each week, Matters’ ability to take big grabs, win ground balls and either set up teammates or finish for goal makes him one of the division’s best.
Has 21 majors and four best player mentions in 10 games.
11. IZAAC ALLARD
(Greenacres)
Joining Greenacres from Modbury for this year, Allard has been a star for the Dragons.
Tireless around the ground, Allard has the ability to win his own ball, burst from stoppage and create opportunities for his side with crafty disposal.
Has 13 best player nods and 11 goals in 17 games.
10. LACHLAN GLAZBROOK
(Colonel Light Gardens)
A former gun in the Yorke Peninsula FL, Glazbrook joined the Lions from Kadina for 2024 and has starred for his new side.
A workhorse through the middle who always finds the footy and has the ability to release teammates efficiently while under pressure.
Has nine best player nods and 13 goals in 15 games.
9. MATT BRINCAT
(Blackfriars OS)
The 2024 season has been a challenging one for Blackfriars OS, but Brincat remains as one of the competition’s standouts.
The star leader can will his team to results out of the middle, dominating in the air and using the ball well to release teammates.
He can also move up the ground to hit the scoreboard with 14 goals to his name to go with 12 best player nods in 16 games.
8. ZAC ANGEL
(Marion)
One of the Rams’ most consistent players in season 2024, Angel remains important to his side’s success.
Dominant behind the ball, Angel can intercept play or win his own footy and find space seamlessly to set-up teammates with accurate disposal.
Has nine best player nods and two goals in 15 games.
7. NICK COLLINS
(Mitcham)
Formerly a star in the Spencer Gulf FL, Collins has been a major contributor for Mitcham since joining in 2022.
One of the hardest workers for his side, Collins can win the footy in the air and at ground level and is one of the best kicks for the Hawks.
Has 11 best player nods and three goals in 15 games.
6. NICK WORRALL
(Pulteney)
The former Pembroke OS gun has been a dominant performer for Pulteney.
Worrall is a strong and athletic onballer who has no issue doing the dirty work for his side and can also impact the game up front with brilliant awareness around goal.
Has 12 best player nods and 12 goals in his 17 games so far.
5. JAKE NEADE
(Portland)
The former Port Adelaide midfielder/forward utility has been a star for Portland this year.
Neade is one of the most skilful and exciting players to watch in division five on his day, producing clean work at ground level, distributing to teammates effectively and kicking tough goals.
Has 12 best player mentions and 21 majors in 17 games.
4. SCOTT BURNETT
(Greenacres)
A superstar for Greenacres over a number of years, Burnett has been at his best yet again for the Dragons.
Burnett is a consistent player on the ball who can win the footy in the contest and hit teammates anywhere around the ground, take big marks and lay plenty of tackles each week.
Has 10 best player nods and 10 goals in 14 games.
3. KYE DEAN
(Colonel Light Gardens)
A force for Colonel Light Gardens yet again this season, Dean has been a top player in the competition.
Dean is a versatile star who can dominate with his ability to win the footy, deal to teammates efficiently or kick bags of goals up front.
Has 34 majors and 12 best player nods in 17 games.
2. MAXWELL SMYTH
(Mitcham)
A top forward in division five this season, Smyth has put another strong year together for the Hawk in 2024.
Smyth’s ability to win the ball in the forwardline or take strong marks in front of goal makes him a tough matchup for most defenders and he has the ability to finish from anywhere.
Has 62 goals and four best player performances in 16 games.
1. TERRY MILERA
(Portland)
A former AFL gun with St Kilda, Portland’s Milera remains one of the most skilled players in the AdFL.
Milera is a versatile and athletic player who is adept off of either foot and can play a number of roles around the ground, doing significant damage up front or through the middle, often taking big marks and booting skilful goals.
Has 52 goals majors and eight best player nods through his 17 games.
