An award-winning winery in Adelaide’s south has tabled plans to further their empire by redeveloping their current site.
ESD Planning & Design have submitted plans to the City of Onkaparinga, outlining additions to the Yangarra winery including relocating their cellar door and building a function centre.
“The intent of the redevelopment is to provide additional storage capacity, primarily for finished goods and wine maturation, improved office facilities and new larger cellar door with capacity to hold a number of functions,” the report said.
“The cellar door is proposed to be co-located with the winery expansion which will have direct internal views from the upper level to the ground floor level barrel and ferment vessel area and will include a balcony and outdoor seating area.”
The proposal also involves the closure of the existing cellar door and office, which will be returned to the primary use of a dwelling.
The new cellar door will include a wine sales area, wine lounge with a double-sided fireplace and seating area, a wine tasting room, balcony with outdoor seating and walkway across to the first floor level of the existing winery.
The cellar door contains full height glazing on the southern wall and small internal balcony to allow for views into the winery.
A total of 64 car parks will be available for patrons.
The project is on public notification until October 13.
