A 20-year-old Glenelg man told police he was “f**king angry” when he allegedly climbed on a roof and threw roof tiles at them, a court has heard.

Tyson Wilson was arrested at Old Reynella on Saturday evening after allegedly spending more than two and a half hours on the roof of a Burgoyne Drive house.

Police allege Mr Wilson climbed onto the roof of the property and threw roof tiles at police, who had been called to the area following reports of cars being damaged.

The Christies Beach Magistrates Court heard one of the roof tiles nearly struck a police officer and caused damage to a police vehicle.

Damage was also caused to a number of other vehicles, houses and a laundromat.

The court heard Mr Wilson was angry at his father in the lead up to the incident.

“He was belligerent during the interview … he wasn’t interviewed however he did tell police ‘yea I did it, I was f**king angry’,” a police prosecutor said.

“Obviously this was serious offending resulting in a large number of police having to attend, they were put at risk as well as members of the public.

“Also the defendant has a number of outstanding matters at the time of offending.”

The court heard Mr Wilson had struggled with mental health and his anger and dealing with emotion.

“He had frequently used cannabis and this had been a way he had self-regulated,” defence lawyer Indianna Davis said.

“He’s been clean from cannabis for five weeks and he’s finding he needs to find healthy ways to regulate himself.”

Mr Wilson was remanded in custody until a home detention report can be brought to court next week.
