A full-time triple-0 call centre operator with a passion for makeup has lost her licence after her 120km/h joyride through the southern suburbs was foiled by police.

Stacey Angeline Haif, 37, pleaded guilty to the charge of exceeding the speed limit by 45km/h or more after she was caught travelling at 120km/h in a 70km/h zone on Sherriffs Rd, Lonsdale aboard a red Ducati motorcycle in October 2022.

Ms Haif appeared in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Thursday in front of Magistrate Kylie Schulz, who said the mother-of-two’s behaviour was “beyond comprehension”.

“While the weather and road conditions were good, there was moderate traffic flow and travelling at that speed, you clearly posed a risk to other road users and also to yourself,” she said.

“There’s no real explanation given as to why you were travelling at that speed and engaging in behaviour that was so risky to yourself and the community.

“I take into account that you’re a mother with responsibilities for two children but as a mother, this type of behaviour is beyond comprehension in terms of the potential risks you imposed on other families – other children.”

Prior to her offending, Ms Haif was a self-employed makeup artist who “loved to create new and unique looks” according to Facebook.

At the time of the offence, Ms Haif’s defence counsel told the court she was homeless and was looking for a place to stay.

They also said she was “significantly stressed out”.

Ms Schulz imposed a $2400 fine and a loss of licence for five months and 11 days beginning on Monday, June 3.
