Onkaparinga Council will spend $16.2 million over the next five years to upgrade its computer systems.
Specialist IT provider TechnologyOne will supply the council with specialist software including programs to manage projects and assets and integrate records.
Mayor Erin Thompson said the new technology would “completely change” the way the council operated and would make it easier for residents to contact the council.
“Our internal processes will be more efficient, agile and responsive, and support our staff with
the tools that they need in order to be able to deliver in better ways,” Ms Thompson said.
“We’re still functioning with old legacy systems that have not had a strategic review since
amalgamation of the council 20 years ago.
“This will totally change the way we do business and serve our customers.”
Onkaparinga will also launch a new website next month.
The new site is being rolled out in stages and will offer a map, which will allow people to enter their address and see everything going on around them including council events, waste collection days, road works and major projects.
Nearby libraries and community centres will also appear.
