Old Noarlunga cafe Long Shot & Co named best in the south

Tucked away in the suburban streets of Adelaide’s southern suburbs, this Old Noarlunga cafe has earned itself the title of best cafe in the region.

A cafe in the suburban streets of Old Noarlunga has taken out the title of best cafe in the southern region.

With a huge focus on supporting local produce and getting to know its customers, its no surprise Long Shot & Co received more than 18 per cent of votes in our Delicious Local poll.

Owner Michael Long said after a tough year which saw the Patapinda Road close for six weeks, it was super exciting to be voted best cafe in the south.

“We just didn’t have the capital to weather (COVID) and obviously we weren’t expecting it and it came out of nowhere,” Mr Long said.

“We’ve gotten back on track now, when covid hit we were nearly a year old so we were building up that regular customer base and COVID put the brakes on that.

“Being in a small little Old Noarlunga township here we’ve got a lot of regulars who have been working from home and also make the point of supporting us and not going too far away.”

Mr Long said it was the cafe’s customer service and commitment to supporting local that made it the best in the south.

“We use Dawn Patrol coffee that’s roasted up the road … as well as Fleurieu Milk, croissants from up the road and TC’s Fruit and Veg,” he said.

“Customer service is a big part of it as well, we remember everybody’s names and their orders and people just feel a sense of familiarity and community when they come in.”

Long Shot & Co will now appear in a statewide battle on the hunt for the best cafe in SA.

Ambassador Matt Preston said the search for the nation’s best cafe was just the beginning in supporting local businesses across the country.

“It’s clear from the vast number of nominations and votes we saw come in that local communities are rallying around their favourite eateries; supporting those food businesses who have done it tough over the past 12 months,” he said.
