A man's drug dealing charge has been withdrawn in court after a large amount of meth was found at a southern suburbs hospital.

Mark James Ross Wilton, 41, had his drug trafficking charge dismissed in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

During Mr Wilton's last court hearing in July, a prosecutor asked for a six week adjournment for charge determination so they could obtain further evidence.

The court heard a “serious amount” of methamphetamine was located on February 3 at Bedford Park.

“Being 18.3g in a black bag in the Flinders Medical Clinic,” the prosecutor said.

The prosecutor said they weren’t sure why a particular nurse wasn’t previously interviewed and a statement wasn’t taken but it still needed to be done.

At the time, Taylor Johanson, for Mr Wilton, asked for her client’s charge to be dismissed, saying it was now the second charge determination date.

“It’s a fairly simple matter from my perspective in relation to the evidence that still hasn’t been obtained,” she said.

Mr Wilton, of Noarlunga Downs, who had spent several months in custody was released on supervised bail at the last hearing after a magistrate decided to not to dismiss the charge.

On Wednesday, a prosecutor told the court they were not proceeding with the charge and Mr Wilton was released from his bail agreement.
