A beloved bowling alley at one of Adelaide’s biggest shopping centres has pulled the pin on its lease.
Marion Bowland announced on Facebook it will close the business after it was offered a smaller space within Westfield.
“In the past few weeks final plans of Westfield’s redevelopment of our space have been locked in and unfortunately, they were only able to offer us enough space to conduct business with 4-5 lanes,” the post reads.
“As I am sure you can understand this is not a viable business option as a centre this size wouldn’t even cover overheads.
Westfield have been fantastic in letting us stay for as long as we have as this could quite easily have happened years ago but as they say, “all good things come to an end”.
“There is a chance of Marion Bowland relocating at a later date, however at this point we are unsure when or where as we do not yet have an appropriate space in an appropriate area in which to set up a new centre.”
Many loyal customers responded to the post, saying they were shattered to hear the news.
“A regular routine outing for my family for many, many years – we will definitely miss this great place and the lovely staff,” a user wrote.
“We have created many amazing memories here, kids birthday parties, air hockey challenges, virtual motor bike races, pin ball … and the bowling has always been the best place to play. “Shattered.”
The announcement comes after the last South Australian dine-in Pizza Hut closed its doors in June, leaving the Marion community and surrounds heartbroken.
The Bowland will remain open until January 15 next year and is encouraging everyone to have one last bowl.
