Five-storey apartment building proposed for Grand Boulevard, Seaford Meadows

A prominent street in Seaford Meadows could soon be home to a $5m apartment complex and retail development, under plans lodged with Onkaparinga Council.
Plans for the development on Grand Boulevard include a five-storey apartment building and two-storey retail and commercial building.
The proposed development would contain 32 two-bedroom apartments and more than 470sq m of retail and commercial space.
A report prepared by engineering consultant Cirqa said development plan consent was approved for the currently vacant site in 2012.
The western portion of the site has since been developed and the eastern part is the subject of the current proposal.
The previous plan for the eastern portion of the site included 20 apartments and a space for a 100-seat restaurant or cafe.
“The (current) proposed development comprises a variation to a previously approved development for the subject site,” the report said.
“The proposal will result in an increase in the number of apartment dwellings on the subject site while reducing the commercial tenancy floor areas.”
Under the new proposal, the restaurant or cafe would be removed but overall floor space for commercial tenancies would be increased.
Current plans for the development also include 46 undercroft carparking spaces, an increase of 13 extra spaces compared to the previous plans.
The site is located within the South at Seaford Meadows development and near the Seaford Meadows Shopping Centre.
Plans for the development are available for public feedback on the Onkaparinga Council website until March 3.
