Coles Park Holme open the doors to its new-look supermarket

A supermarket in Adelaide’s south has reopened with a whole new look, complete with self-serve bakery. See the photos.

Park Holme residents and surrounds have welcomed an elevated shopping experience at Coles with the store’s first refreshment in more than a decade.

Customers will have the option to slice their own fresh sourdough with a self-serve bread slicer or pick up fresh flatbread from the new look open-front bakery, while a customer-favourite frozen dessert bar with mochi, macarons and mini gelati will be a perfect treat for those warm summer days.

It comes as Coles came under fire this week for trialling anti-theft ‘smart gates’ that track items scanned at self-serve checkouts and shut if they detect discrepancies as shoppers approach them.

The shoppers are stuck until staff can check their bags.

Coles Park Holme store manager and long-serving team member of 23 years, Michael Ferguson, said his team, including 20 new staff were excited to welcome local shoppers into the revamped store.

“Many of the locals who have shopped with us throughout the renovation process are delighted with the fresh new look and layout of the store, with the upgraded checkout area and fresh fridges receiving lots of positive feedback,” he said.

“I am excited for the community to meet the 20 new team members joining the Park Holme family, with many of them joining the workforce for the first time.”

The revamped layout not only enhances the customer-facing experience but also includes an

upgraded back-of-house system that improves the efficiency of online delivery.

Additionally, new covered click-and-collect bays have been added for the delivery of groceries directly to customers’ cars.

Long-serving team member of 45 years, Noeleen Clark, said after 22 years at Coles Park Holme, she was excited to be offering customers a refreshed experience they will be sure to love.

“I started with Coles when I was 15 years old, and throughout my time, I have worked in many departments, from deli to checkout to operations. But throughout it all, the incredible people have been the highlight of my career,” she said.

“I had thought about retiring at my 45-year anniversary, but with the amazing Park Holme team by my side, I am determined to make it to 50 years.

“I am confident the local community will love this new chapter for Park Holme and I look forward to welcoming them into the new-look store.”
