Both Marino train stations will receive some much needed TLC after council move motion

Two train stations on the Seaford line will receive some much needed TLC, with hundreds of thousands of dollars earmarked to upgrade pedestrian access.

How do Australia’s train networks compare to one another?

Southern commuters are set for a boon after a council has moved a motion to upgrade two train stops to the tune of $140,000.

City of Marion Council moved the motion to design and deliver of access improvements for Marino and Marino Rocks railway stations including new footpaths, pedestrian ramps as well as improving safety for commuters.

“In February 2021, council was approached by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport to develop a scope of works for a funding deed,” a report supplied by council said.

The Marino Rocks station will be revamped with the addition of a new kerb ramp connections over Jervois Terrace, Bandon Terrace and Newland Ave as well as replacing the existing asphalt path.

The Marino station will receive new disability parking on both the eastern and west side of the stop.

Councillor Tim Gard said at the council meeting that it has been one of the more postive initiative that has been conceived.

“There’s more safety, more accessibility, better pavements, I endorse this motion,” he said.

Last week it was announced that the Seaford, Belair and Flinders lines will close for three consecutive weekends during school holidays.

The Seaford rail line will be closed between Adelaide Railway Station and Adelaide Showground Station.

Trains will operate between Adelaide Showground and Seaford stations and substitute buses will operate between the Adelaide Showground and Adelaide.

The substitute bus services will set down and pick up in Cooke Terrace.
