South Australia’s newly-crowned best nail technician has revealed how one of the hottest pop acts on the planet has helped her business boom.

South Australia’s best nail technician has revealed what makes her business tick after being crowned for the third year in a row.

Alana Davis, of Alana Davis Nails and Beauty, has been voted South Australia’s best nail technician yet again in the latest Messenger ‘best of’ series.

The mother-of-two says her passion and love for her industry is what has allowed her to become so successful.

“You have to absolutely love what you are doing, especially when it takes up so much of your life,” Mrs Davis said.

“I cater to my clients that can only make 7.30pm at night … when my daughter is ready for bed I start work again.”

While many are struggling with the rising cost of living prices, Mrs Davis said many of her clients refuse to skimp out on her service.

“A lot of my clients like for their hands to be presentable, whether they work in real estate or have to give a lot of presentations, they don't want to have untidy hands.

“I was surprised across these last two years, I thought a lot of people would have pulled back but for me the industry has not slowed down.”

Working out of her home studio in Victor Harbor, Mrs Davis has felt the full effects of Hollywood, saying the recent Harry Styles tour had her packed to the rafters.

“I was having girls come in, wanting amazing, really funky stuff that I had never done before,” she said.

“As soon as there is an event on like a concert you never know what they are going to ask for.

“They are messaging me straight away, locking in times making sure we have enough space to create what they want.

“That unknown doesn’t rattle me, it’s exciting and it never gets boring.”
