The votes are in and you’ve named Adelaide Fresh Fruiterers as the best spot to find fruit and veg in the southern suburbs.
The Morphett Vale institution received more than 50 per cent of votes in the southern category of The Messenger’s latest “best of” poll.
Owner and third-generation fruiterer Dino Labbozzetta said the customer recognition made all the early mornings worth while.
“It’s amazing to get this recognition and for our staff and family it means this hard work, doing what we do and getting up super early pays off and people do appreciate it,” he said.
In its 13 years of trading, Adelaide Fresh Fruiterers has evolved from a humble fruit and veg shop to a bustling business complete with continental deli, take-home meals, gift hampers and even pizzas on the weekend.
Mr Labbozzetta said while it was important to adapt to the changing times he still tried to keep old traditions alive.
“We want to make sure we know as many of our customers by name and we’re asking about their kids and little things like that,” he said.
“It’s all about the shopping experience for our customers and community.
“It’s always changing, a lot of industries especially fruit and veg retail is changing and you have to learn to diversify.”
Other popular southern greengrocers, as voted by the public, included O’Halloran Hill Fruit Market, TC’s Fruit and Veg, The Cove Fruit Basket and Christies Fresh Fruit Mart.
