Glenelg is anticipating a major upgrade with multiple luxury residential buildings on the way, including a five-star hotel expected to be completed late 2024.
The $50m project – one of three along Colley Tce – will consist of 65 rooms, a rooftop bar, and feature facilities “not seen before in Glenelg,” said developer Tom Taplin.
“Our rooms were redesigned throughout the build process and have been taken to the next level in terms of style and finishes. Guests can expect to see beautiful open-plan bathrooms with custom-made and -styled furniture,” Mr Taplin said.
The seven-storey hotel at 1 Colley Terrace will cater for business executives, large families, and long-term visitors when it opens some time between July and December of this year.
Mr Taplin told the Advertiser each of the 65 rooms will feature private balconies, offering either sweeping views of the ocean or Adelaide Hills.
Yet to be named, Mr Taplin said the new luxury apartment would become “the benchmark for the western suburbs”.
Construction is also underway for an eight-storey apartment building at 22 Colley Terrace, developed by the award-winning Griffin Group and designed by award-winning architects, Tectvs.
Griffin Group will attempt to set a “new benchmark” in apartment living by offering residents ocean views through Glenelg’s famous pine trees with options of one-, two-, or three-bedroom apartments.
“This will appeal to anyone seeking an easy, lock-up-and-leave lifestyle in the sought-after Glenelg area,” Griffin Group said.
A 12-storey apartment building located at 13 Colley Terrace will aim to begin construction later this year.
The residential tower, also developed by Taplin Group, will feature 82 apartments throughout its 13,000 sqm.
With angled edges that “diminish the cantilevering balconies” along with “faceted fins” at street level, the award-winning architecture group behind the design, SMFA, said the project would bring a calmer presence to a busy Colley Terrace.
“A key driver of the design was to create an interplay between strength and beauty,” they said.
“This remarkable residential development offers a harmonious blend of luxurious living and breathtaking surroundings.”
The project will have one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments available while also offering tenants a basement level comprising of 33 car parks and a further 44 car parks on both the ground and first floor.
Close to Glenelg Jetty, Mosely Square, and Jetty Road shopping precinct, the apartments would provide “breathtaking surroundings”, said SMFA.
“(The tower) commands views of the ocean, esplanade, and picturesque Adelaide Hills.”
Mr Taplin is hoping to begin construction mid-to-late this year.
