They may be small group, but they have big plans for their town.

Diana Mislov has lead the charge of the Port Lincoln Action Group as it pushes to start a conversation about what Port Lincoln ratepayers want to see in their seaside town after a successful community meeting last month.

“When I woke up that morning, I thought about the number I would okay with and what I would consider to be a good turn out,” Ms Mislov said.

“I bought 20 water bottles thinking I would have to bring at least ten home but we ended up with 136 people that day.”

While the main topic of discussion surrounds the proposed $32m vision put forward by Port Lincoln Council, Ms Mislov goal is for the action group to become a long-term voice for the town.

“The group want to be heard, they want to be listened to and have an avenue to approach council with their concerns,” she said.

“At the moment we are very focused on the strategic projects they have lined up and I am hoping we can keep the momentum up for a longer term progress association.”

Former mayor and action group member Peter Davis said he was deeply passionate about how changing the landscape of the CBD could affect not only the town’s history but also believed it may put lives at risk.

“I witnessed the poor bloke who go cleaned up at that roundabout last Thursday and while I feel for that bloke, that accident is a classic, it’s just plain bloody stupid,” he said.

“I was mayor for 16 years and spent a lot of time with the current mayor and I am appalled by the leadership we are getting at the moment.”

Ms Mislov also sighted the stormwater upgrades as a priority as well as the seawall along the foreshore and parking throughout the CBD.

“We aren’t against progress we just want to be apart of the process, ask the right question and involve people.”

The Action Group will meet again at 7pm on Thursday, March 4 at Kirton Point Bowling Club and welcomes anyone that wishes to join.
