Fullarton resident Krystal Savage believes her pet dog, Eddie, is the cutest pooch out — and South Australia agrees.
The nine-month-old Australian Cobberdog, who she calls a “teddy bear”, was voted the state’s cutest pooch in Messenger Community News and The Advertiser’s Puppy Power List.
About 700 pet owners sent in pictures of their furry friends in the hope of securing the title worthy of bragging rights.
“Every time we take Eddie for a walk we are stopped and people will ask what breed he is,” Ms Savage, 32, says.
“I think every one sees their own dog as the cutest dog in South Australia.
“Eddie is no more beautiful than others, but I am so thrilled he has won.”
Eddie is known as the trusty office dog at Ms Savage’s workplace — Travel Associates Norwood Place.
She says despite Eddie’s line of work in the travel industry, he is not a frequent flyer.
However, he enjoys meeting customers ready to book their next adventure.
Ms Savage says when Eddie “grows up” he wants to be therapy dog for children with special needs.
“We are going through obedience at the moment in the hope, that if he passes everything, we (can) enrol him into a therapy course to then work with children with autism.”
When The Advertiser and Messenger Community News called out for cute dog pictures we were overwhelmed with the response.
The best were included in four themed online galleries, including dressed up dogs, best buddies and beach dogs.
Our judging panel chose the top 50 entries and put them to a poll, with Eddie taking home 15 per cent of the overall vote.
Eddie has donated his RSPCA Petville prize, including a $200 prize pack and free grooming, back to the RSPCA to help an animal in need.
RSPCA PetVille Hillcrest Store Manager Sharon Bowly thanked Ms Savage for her generosity.
“It’s really generous of Krystal to think of the animals in our care – I’m sure our staff will find just the right animals to benefit from all the goodies in the RSPCA PetVille pack,” she said.
“And of-course we all think Eddie deserved the title of cutest pooch too – he’s 100 per cent adorable!”
