Two men have been arrested after a man was found at a Renown Park property bleeding profusely from a stab wound to the torso, and a gun shot wound to the leg.
Emergency services responded to calls to the Torrens Rd apartment of Sam Luong, 63, around 8.30am on Thursday.
Blood stains were evident through the complex including a large amount on the porch of one apartment and he was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
After further investigation, police attended a Virginia address on Friday night and arrested a 29-year-old man who has been charged with blackmail.
Later that same evening, officers went to a Parafield Gardens address and arrested a 41-year-old Burton man who has been charged with numerous offences including firearms offences.
Both were refused bail to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
The Advertiser previously revealed Mr Luong was known to authorities after previously attempting to injure police with an axe.
Friends and neighbours of the 63-year-old described him as a “lovely man” and “not deserving of this attack”.
Thi Giau Nguyen, 60, who had been friends with Mr Luong for over a decade
said she was the one to find Mr Luong outside his apartment bleeding.
She said there was blood everywhere.
As Ms Nguyen called the ambulance, Mr Luong told her that two men had entered his home from the back door and stabbed him.
The Advertiser understands the two men took a bicycle to and from the scene.
Mr Luong was known to authorities after he pleaded guilty to assaulting and hindering police in 2021 – when he swung an axe at an officer that was serving him a warrant for not appearing at Elizabeth Magistrate Court for another matter.
Mr Luong was convicted and received a six month prison sentence, which was reduced to four months and one week due to his early guilty plea.
Three months of the sentence was suspended and he was released on a one year, $500 good behaviour bond.
Police said investigations were ongoing and anyone with information that can assist police should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or go online.
