A SEVEN-STOREY, $50 million luxury hotel with swimming pool and rooftop bar has been green-lit for Adelaide’s north, creating more than 500 jobs in total.

CONSTRUCTION on a $50 million luxury hotel in Elizabeth will begin in January.
Playford Council’s assessment panel last week voted unanimously to allow development of a seven-storey hotel on Playford Blvd at the current Grenville Centre site.
The 4.5 star hotel, to be privately built by Prizac Developments Pty, will have 204 rooms, a swimming pool and a rooftop bar.
Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty said the hotel would become a focal point in the area.
“It’s exciting to see the new hotel for Prince George Plaza approved,” he said.
“This is really exciting for the community, it brings new jobs and private investment into Playford.”
Up to 300 jobs will be created during construction of the hotel, with 220 ongoing positions expected at its completion.
“There is confidence in Playford and that’s why we’re seeing private investment of this magnitude come into our community,” Mr Docherty said.
“It means local jobs for local people.”
The hotel is expected to open in November 2019 as part of Playford’s new CBD precinct.
The Grenville Centre – a hub for northern citizens aged over 50 – is being relocated by council into a new $5 million building overlooking Prince George Plaza.
Concerns about parking demand were raised in the meeting but the assessment panel was confident the issue would be addressed.
Councillor and assessment panel member Joe Federico was happy to support the development despite those concerns.
“The town centre is growing – the council is fully aware that there will be more demand for carparking,” Mr Federico said.
“Certainly there is an opportunity for sharing parking in the shopping centre. There has been, I believe, a critical assessment made that at this point in time it is quite capable of handling it.”
Prizac Development declined to comment.
