A drug user caught with marijuana and fantasy allegedly turned to dealing out of a hotel room with her partner after their house was raided.

Sanja Parenta, 39, is trying to rehabilitate from her drug addiction, after producing multiple positive drug tests for methamphetamine, a court has been told.

A prosecutor told the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday police stopped a car where Parenta was seated in the back in June, 2018.

“A search of her bag located an ice pipe,” the prosecutor said.

Police attended Parenta’s address and searched her room in May last year.

“They located some drug material – being a small amount of cannabis, a small amount of GHB – 10ml,” the prosecutor said.

The court heard Parenta, who is on home detention bail for serious drug and guns charges, also produced multiple positive drug tests.

Police searched the Greenwith house of Parenta and her partner and co-accused, Chad Peter Christou, 36, on October 13.

Parenta and Christou weren’t home at the time.

Christou used his credit card at the Walkers Arm Hotel on October 16 leading police to attend and search their hotel room two days later and allegedly found a significant amount of drugs.

Christou and Parenta, both of Greenwith, are charged with trafficking in a commercial quantity of drugs and dishonestly receiving property without consent.

Those charges have been adjourned until October.

In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday, Parenta pleaded guilty to possessing controlled drugs and breaching bail.

Alex Rice, for Parenta, told the court Parenta, who is unemployed, has a long standing drug problem which has been ongoing for the past five to ten years.

“Her residence that she was in … was rented by people who consume illicit drugs,” he said.

“You combine that with someone with a longstanding drug problem, it is no surprise she comes before the court with consecutive drug tests that are consistent with using methamphetamine.”

The court heard Parenta is planning to move out of the house and start on a drug rehabilitation program.

Magistrate Michelle Sutcliffe sentenced Parenta to a 12-month good behaviour bond for $500 and fined her $560.
