A man has admitted his role in a brazen break-in, where he helped kick down a door and steal expensive motorcycles.

Ralphy Solomon Jacob Burgoyne, 20, and Malcolm Roger Ross Gibbs, 19, were among the alleged gang of thieves in the smash and grab at a motorcycle store.

During Burgoyne’s bail application last week, the court heard Burgoyne, Gibbs and four youths allegedly broke into SA Motorcycles at Gepps Cross on November 27 and stole a large number of high value motorcycles.

“He assisted in kicking open the front door, he can be seen inside the store picking up a motorbike and exiting through the front door with that,” the prosecutor said.

The court heard CCTV footage showed Burgoyne leaving the carpark on one of the stolen motorbikes.

The motorbikes, which included three red Honda trail bikes and a green Kawasaki trail bike, were valued at more than $30,000.

A 14-year-old Gilberton boy was stopped by police a couple of hours later after the break-in riding the green Kawasaki at North Adelaide.

He was charged with serious criminal trespass, theft, illegal use, driving unlicensed and was bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Youth Court.

“There’s photographs seized on the mobile phone belonging to one of the accused containing photographs and videos of the accused and co-accused riding on the stolen motorbikes,” the prosecutor said.

The court heard Burgoyne, who was born in Whyalla and attended school in Port Lincoln, was currently sharing a cell with his father while in custody.

It is not known what charges the father is facing.

Burgoyne, of Parafield Gardens, pleaded guilty in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday to multiple offences, including serious criminal trespass and theft.

Stacey Carter, for Burgoyne, said the prosecution weren’t opposed to resolving the charges in the Magistrates Court jurisdiction, due to his limited criminal history.

However, Magistrate Simon Smart said it made more sense to keep Burgoyne with Gibbs, of Adelaide, who has also pleaded guilty to the break-in, so they could be sentenced together.

Mr Smart committed Burgoyne to the District Court in July.
