An elderly victim of a violent Woodville Park attack with a firearm that sparked armed police raids has emerged from hospital.

Three witnesses who were in the vicinity of the ordeal, recalled the moments after the attack.

“He didn’t look very friendly either, he had a mohawk and he was bleeding,” one witness said.

The suspect had reportedly fled to near by businesses and after attacking the elderly man, and yelled at workers to call him for an ambulance.

Shortly after, he ambushed a delivery truck as the driver was unloading furniture and sped of in the vehicle.

“He rushed across here and tried to pinch a couple of cars from us,” another witness said.

“One of the fellas thought he heard a loud bang which in hindsight was probably a gun shot,” he told 7News.

“Jesus Christ, there was a lot of coppers here, I’ve never seen it before. More cops here than a festival so it was pretty full-on,” another witness said.

The northern-suburbs man was later arrested in a raid by heavily armed police officers and charged after allegedly bashing a mechanic with a gun and stealing a getaway truck.

A home where the 40-year-old Elizabeth Downs man was staying was raided by STAR Group police officers about 1pm on Thursday after an allegedly stolen truck was dumped nearby.

The raid ended with two people emerging from the home as armed officers with assault rifles and riot shields locked down surrounding streets, after investigations led police to believe one of the people may have been armed.

The 40-year-old man was charged with aggravated assault, firearms offences and illegal use of a motor vehicle, reportedly a furniture truck.

He was refused police bail and is expected to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court Friday.

In a statement, police said the incident was not random and the alleged victim and the charged man were known to one another.

The raid happened about 1pm on Thursday as an array of police swooped on a house in Midlow St, Elizabeth Downs.

In dramatic footage, an officer can be seen standing at the entry to the home holding a weapon with both hands as two people emerge from the front door.

Two other officers stand behind the driver’s and passenger’s side doors of a black SUV.

The two people emerge from the home with their hands on their head before turning around and slowly backing towards the officer who has his weapon drawn.

Several bystanders watch on as the officers make the arrest.

Streets in the area were shut down as police rushed to the scene.

An earlier police statement said they had located an alleged stolen getaway truck on Burdell St at Elizabeth Downs, which they say was used to flee after the assault.

Burdell St is one street south of Midlow St.

The mechanic was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
