With a video of a passionate golfer confronting a man he thought had hacked up a nearby green going viral, a northern suburbs teenager walked into a police station and handed himself in.

As police were investigating alleged damage at the Playford Lakes golf course at Munno Para, the 19-year-old from Craigmore gave himself up.

A police spokesperson said the teen was reported for property damage and he would appear in court at a later date.

“A man will be summoned to appear in court after he allegedly damaged a northern suburbs golf course,” the spokesperson said.

They said inquiries regarding other suspects would continue.

In the video the man can be heard asking the person he believed to have damaged the court what his name is.

The individual responded but would not say the names of the other people he was with.

It was not clear whether the individual in the video was the teen who had handed themself in.

The report came less than a day after City of Playford councillor Clint Marsh told The Messenger he wanted to see any alleged vandals admit to perpetrating the damage.

“I would hope the individuals hand themselves in, accept the behaviour shouldn’t be tolerated and should pay the price of repairing the golf course,” he said on Wednesday.

“I just hate when someone chooses to damage a public asset that so many others enjoy.”

The course had since been repaired and the damage bill had been estimated at $2000.

A photo posted by the tenant club of the golf course indicated the alleged damage was not their first brush with vandalism.

The photo, from August last year, showed vehicle tracks that had torn up the grass across greens and fairways.

“Once again the course has been vandalised by a poor excuse for a human,” the club said at the time.

“The course will be working hard to repair this damage from yet another act of vandalism for everyone to be able to keep playing.”

The course was involved in a similar incident in 2018 when vandals on motorbikes tore up the fifth hole green.

There were no suggestions the Craigmore man had been involved in the “act of vandalism” from August last year or 2018.

Anyone with information on the incident or the people involved is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
