A creep has been sentenced for possessing “disturbing” child exploitation material after a police investigation into a bizarre incident in primary school toilets.

Matthew Healy, 21, avoided jail for his perverted desires, which were fuelled by methamphetamine use.

The District Court heard police found three or four handwritten notes and two images of child exploitation material, which the prosecutor described as graphic and disturbing.

Healy was sentenced in August to unlawfully being on premises and damaging a building after he walked into Playford Primary School at night twice last year and jemmied open a door to a toilet block.

A blonde wig, Bonds bra and condom wrapper were found in the toilets the next day.

Magistrate Terence Forrest said despite the facts suggesting Healy may have been living out a sexual fantasy, he could only be sentenced on the charges before the court.

He placed Healy on an 18-month good behaviour bond, with no convictions recorded.

Judge Paul Muscat told the court in April Healy’s behaviour in the toilets was clearly sexual and he found it very concerning.

“He’s gone to the toilet block, he’s got female underwear, he’s masturbating,” he said.

“He’s placed pornography on the wall. Everything points to that offending being motivated solely by his sexual deviancy.”

The court heard Healy was detected after a DNA match to semen in a used condom found in the toilets.

That investigation led police to his Craigmore family home where they charged him with possessing child exploitation material – which he pleaded guilty to.

Judge Muscat said a psychological report showed Healy had poor insight into his offending.

“He’s stealing underwear from clotheslines and he was rifling through Goodwill bins and finding children’s underwear,” Judge Muscat said.

Andrew Ey, for Healy, told the court his client, who in the early stages of pedophilic sexual orientation, was receiving treatment but admitted he still had a long way to go.

Mr Ey said Healy was extremely remorseful for the offending and committed to being drug free, as methamphetamine use increased his sexual drive.

The court heard due to the media attention of the case, people were doing burnouts in front of Healy’s family property.

Judge Muscat sentenced Healy to nine months jail.

The sentence was suspended on a $1000, two-year good behaviour bond.
