Phone calls made by a young woman moments after she assaulted a “dog” police officer at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital show a “complete lack of remorse”, a court has heard.

Jasmine Crewdson, 28, of Elizabeth, pleaded guilty to two charges of assaulting police and two charges of aggravated assault in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday.

The phone calls were revealed during a victim impact statement from one of the two police officers Crewdson assaulted.

“ (Crewdson) could be heard saying, ‘Don’t talk to police, don’t say anything to them’,” Magistrate Jayanthi Pandya read to the court.

“If you see them, the blonde one is the one I punched.

“I’m going to knock that dog out, I need a knife.”

The officer’s statement said Crewdson “acted with maleficence”, showed “evil intent” and had a “complete lack of remorse”.

Crewdson assaulted the cops at the hospital on April 1, 2019, kicked a doctor at the state’s James Nash House mental health facility seven days later, and bit a prison guard on the leg while in custody at the Port Augusta prison in July of that year.

Last week Caroline Tassone, for Crewdson, unsuccessful argued to have the charges dismissed because of her client’s “severe, complex mental health issues”, including borderline personality disorder.

Ms Tassone alleged a security guard at the hospital had used a spit hood on Crewdson and, as an act of self-defence, she made incidental contact with a police officer who was trying to restrain her.

During sentencing on Friday, a police prosecutor told the court a pillow case, used as the spit hood, had been implemented as a method of last resort.

“ (Crewdson) had already lashed out and had already assaulted police and was spitting,” he said.

“That pillow case was used to stop her spitting … that wasn’t a precursor.”

Ms Pandya sentenced Crewdson to a four-month and 28-day prison sentence which was wholly suspended subject to a 12-month good behaviour bond.
