Four underused parks across Playford Council will be upgraded under a new $2m program.
Elizabeth’s Willison-Goodman Reserve, Mandeville Reserve in Davoren Park, Elizabeth Downs’ Burdell Reserve and Craigmore’s California Reserve will be “enhanced”, improving accessibility and overall appearance.
Mayor Glenn Docherty said each location would see a variety of new or improved play areas, lighting, pathways, landscaping and irrigation, seating, signage and shelters after the council received $2m from the federal government.
However, the larger Burdell and California reserves will also receive barbecues, fitness equipment and walking loop trails.
Construction is expected to begin at each location in the second half of 2021.
Mr Docherty said the upgrades would encourage more families to use the community spaces.
“We are very excited to see some of these under-utilised spaces be revamped into more family friendly areas,” he said.
“Many of these reserves are also pedestrian links to shopping centres and services, so we want to improve the pathways within the reserves and incorporate public lighting.”

The project is funded by the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
