A northern suburbs man charged with possessing exploitative images of children – with one younger than 14 – has faced court.
Virginia man Eric Pierre Jourdin, 57, on Friday faced the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on two charges of possessing child exploitation material, one of them aggravated.
Mr Jourdin made an application for bail on the charges.
He was arrested on Thursday afternoon and refused police bail as he awaited his first court appearance.
Police say the arrest came after a joint investigation between SA Police and the Australian Federal Police.
He was nabbed by detectives from the Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team, also known as JACET.
An aggravated charge of possessing child exploitation material carries with it a maximum term of seven-years’ imprisonment if found guilty.
Mr Jourdin was initially due to face the court on Thursday, but the matter rolled over into Friday before he eventually appeared before Magistrate Edward Stratton-Smith.
Mr Stratton-Smith granted Mr Jourdin bail.
He will next face the Adelaide Magistrates Court in February.
