A northern suburbs woman’s Lyell Mac fury at nurses spilt over into her allegedly assaulting two security guards and lashing one of them with racial slurs, a court has heard.

A wild Sunday morning at the Lyell McEwin Emergency Department led to nurses being abused, a security officer assaulted and a 25-year-old woman arrested, a court has heard.

The woman police allege carried out the tirade, Milica Stamenkovic, has since been charged with disorderly behaviour and the assault of two health care workers.

After being arrested, the court heard, Stamenkovic was taken to the Modbury Hospital where she allegedly kicked a police security officer in the jaw after delivering him with vicious racial slurs.

Before she was on Thursday granted home detention bail, the allegations squared against the Elizabeth Downs woman were lashed as “deeply disturbing” by Magistrate Mark Semmens.

A police prosecutor on Monday told the Elizabeth Magistrates Court a security guard had allegedly seen Stamenkovic lashing out at a nurse in the ED before he approached her.

“While she was being held by the security guard she kicked him to his left leg … and then headbutted him in the nose,” he said.

“(At the Modbury Hospital) her right hand was handcuffed to the bed and when the security officer went to handcuff her left hand she’s kicked out with her left leg and struck him to his jaw.”

The court heard Stamenkovic was on supervised bail for charges of theft and resisting police at the time of the alleged hospital outburst, and had not long before been convicted of drug trafficking.

While the prosecutor alleged Stamenkovic had also been responsible for the racial slur, she interrupted to say “that’s not true” drawing a stern word from Mr Semmens.

Mr Semmens later expressed his concern about the allegations against her.

“These are serious offences and people are tired in the community of offences against security guards in public places such as hospitals, and on health workers,” he said.

On Thursday, after Mr Semmens ordered a report earlier in the week, Stamenkovic was released onto home detention bail despite some concerns about her behaviour while in custody.

She will next face court in March.
