A father was suffering from psychosis when he allegedly fired shots inside a house during an altercation, a court heard.

Danny Kerr Kabos, 35, applied for home detention bail in the Adelaide Magistrate Court last week, after police allegedly found guns and a drug crop upon arresting him.

Police allege Mr Kabos went to an Angle Vale property on January 2 and confronted the resident.

It is then alleged Mr Kabos discharged a gun inside the property before leaving in a white van.

He was later detained at a property at Wingfield where detectives allegedly found a rifle, a sawn-off shotgun and a hydroponic drug crop.

A handgun was also recovered from a neighbouring home.

Mr Kabos, of Pooraka, is charged with multiple offences, including discharging a firearm to injure, annoy or frighten a person, large commercial drug trafficking and possessing firearms.

Mark Twiggs, for Mr Kabos, told the court his client was suffering from psychosis at the time of the alleged offending.

The court heard Mr Kabos was treated at James Nash House for mental health issues after his arrest but has since returned to the mainstream prison population.

Mr Twiggs said Mr Kabos could live with his wife and children if released on home detention bail.

Kevin Lowe, prosecuting, told the court they were opposed to any form of bail for Mr Kabos as he was already on bail for other serious drugs charges at the time of the alleged offending.

The court heard he was given a bail condition at the time not to possess any firearms, which he allegedly breached with the new charges.

Magistrate Roderick Jensen denied Mr Kabos bail and adjourned the charges until June for charge determination.
